War and Workouts Versus Fun-ins and World Peace

Published by Rick Dunstan under Wisdom

Memorial Day makes me think of my grandfather who was killed in WWI when my father was 6 months old; and that my Dad never had piggy-back rides like he gave my 10 siblings and me; and also he did not have a father to recommend he take it easy with blue cheese dressing, which doctors told him was a major factor in causing the stroke that put him in the hospital for 7 years before his passing in October 2003.

Go through Hell to Get to Heaven?

I feel that military science gave birth to the flaw in exercise science that you have to go through hell to get to heaven. Or the success path of military and exercise science is: You have to put up with pain to be successful and then you are also likely to need some therapy for post-traumatic stress syndrome or accidental athletic injury to arrive at the goal.

While alive my dad felt war was insanity. And I agree you cannot be rational with orders to kill or be killed. Furthermore, military leaders keep morale high only by brainwashing troops with the idea that you have to fight hard, and maybe die, to win the war for the well being of surviving family members. The problem with workouts is more mild but nevertheless, pain is a necessity for reaching sports performance goals.

Thus, pain has to be integrated for success in war and athletic workouts. And so one also has to deal with the long term negative side-effects of winning a battle or sports competition with no pain, no gain strategies.

On the other hand, no pain, all gain Art of Athletic Bliss Conditioning fun-ins have only positive side-effects that promote health, youthful fitness, peak performance athletic beauty and purpose, and ultimately (go a long way to help create) world peace.
